SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT!
Posted 5/31/07

When 007 goes on "special assignment" he knows he's in for an adventure. Wether it's hand-to-hand combat, a car chase, or diving off a building his special assignment is his number one priority until it's complete. His entire life is devoted to that special assignment. And with each assignment, there are always a series of objectives that must be met in order to have a successful mission. No matter how difficult the task may seem, 007 always meets his objectives and saves the girl by the end of the movie.

One of the greatest questions of all time (besides "how do I keep my VCR from blinking 12:00?") is "What's the purpose of life?" You think about it-- our life is but a flash in the realm of time. We're born into this world, live our life, and then we die. Some get more time than others, yet the ending never changes. Sounds pretty depressing, huh?

Fortunately, the Christian life wasn't meant to be like that! Ephesians 2:10 shows us what life is all about. It says, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." As Christians, we were given a special assignment.

As a Christian, you are God's "special agent!" You were put here on this earth and given life for a purpose. Why are you here? "To do good works, which God prepared in advance..." Did you catch that? Not only is our purpose to serve God, but you have actually been given all the preparation needed to get the job done. God made you unique in order to serve Him in your own unique way; a way no one else can! This special mission starts with why we were created in the first place. We were created to serve! We must first realize our identity in Christ: I am a servant of Jesus Christ!"

When serving Christ with your entire life becomes our focus, God is going to do some amazing things! The key to all this is involvement. Realizing our potential as a youth group will be accomplished as we get involved and serve! So, get out of the training mode and begin your special assignment from God!

Read 1 Samuel 10:17-27 to see how God called King Saul to a life of service to Him. Other verses: Ephesians 2:10; Matthew 6:19-20; Romans 12:1
